Summertime Reading at it's Best

I like to be sure and read a few good books during the summer.  There isn't anything more relaxing than to sit outside and read while taking in mother nature's wonders.  Since I love camping I found a review about the book called Camping, by Bill Heavey.  I found it to be interesting and I plan on getting it and reading it this summer.  Check out the review from the New York Times about this book.

Camping calls the white-tailed deer the deadliest animal in America.  Well, I can kind of relate because I have hit several deer with a vehicle many time living in Missouri.  These accidents can be very dangerous.  Check out the review and if you find it as interesting as I do go ahead and read it.  Then give me your review.

5 Cheap(ish) Things to Take on Your Summer Camping Trip

My last post was to get you thinking about next winter, but now I am ready to focus on summer.  With Memorial Day coming this weekend I am making arrangements to spent time with my family and friends.  I don't plan on camping this weekend, but I'm sure I will be alot this summer.  I was reading this article and realized that we all have different ideas as to what we need to camp.  Look at this article and you can see others point of view as to what to take camping.

You of course always need bug spray, but I never thought about a head lamp and instant coffee won't work for me!
Please let me know what you think of this article.

Reasons to Visit a Winter Destination

I have been writing some articles to help expand my vision in the world of adventure.  After looking through them I decided to post one on my blog.  It is a great read and I hope you like it.

Reasons to Visit a Winter Destination

Many outdoor enthusiasts love traveling in winter, and enjoy sights, sounds, and experiences that summer travelers miss out on. Most everyone thinks of camping, travel to national parks, swimming and outdoor activities as summer activities, but winter activities can be awesome too. There are great reasons to plan your outdoor vacation in the wintertime. Any getaway is welcomed to the average working person and here are a few reasons why visiting a winter destination should be considered.
Winter Recreational Activities

Winter weather can bring a variety of outdoor recreational activities that summer doesn’t. Ice fishing, ice skating, cross country skiing and snowboarding are great activities that can only be done in winter. There are also some year round activities like horseback riding, hiking and hot springs that are great to experience in the winter.

Escape the Winter Blues
Many people get down and depressed during the long months of winter and after the hussle and bussle of the holidays. Taking a winter break can lift your spirits and give you a reason to experience outdoor winter activities. Take the time to plan a getaway during these times and overcome the winter blues. Make some new memories with your family and enjoy a whole new adventure.
Transformed Landscape

Wintertime can transform any destination. You can see different species of plants and animals. Wildlife also behaves differently in the winter months. Bare trees hold snow beautifully and can make you see the surroundings in a whole new way. You will be surprised at how different you will perceive the beauty of nature in an unaccustomed way.

Less crowded

It’s winter and going to a beach may be the best trip ever. Even the prime areas are less crowded with fewer tourist. You will experience the authentic feel with the locals and maybe see things that are geared mainly for the tourist season. You won’t be competing for the best campground spots, restaurants and activities. Even the little things will be better, like less trash, more firewood, less noise, and fewer people on trails. All these things can make traveling in the winter even more enjoyable.

Long nights

If you enjoy sitting around the campfire, gazing at the stars, drinking cocoa and eating smores than winter camping with long nights will be a special pleasure for you. Winter enhances your senses, allows you to see stars that you have never seen and truly enjoy the deep quiet of nature. This tranquillity is something summer travelers will never really get to experience.

Glamping

Glamping is a new form of camping, in case you didn’t know. It is where stunning nature meets modern luxury. It's a way to experience the untamed and completely unique parts of the world—without having to sacrifice modern comforts like TV and a bed to sleep in. Glamorous camping is another word for this activity and if you do it in the winter you can have heat! But don’t worry cause you can still brave the cold weather to roast marshmallows over a fire.

Memories for Life

You will either love or hate camping during the winter, either way you will come back with great pictures, stories, adventures and unique memories.

These memories will last a lifetime and can be handed down for generation. Making memories is one reason to go camping, winter or summer, and these memories might encourage others to go winter camping. All winter travelers enjoy their adventures and love to brag about their experiences.

I hope you like the reasons I have chosen to encourage you to try visiting a winter destination. Remember winter activities are awesome and make great memories.

I hope you liked my article. Please give me some feedback so I can keep writing.

Bass Pro founder plans lodge by Missouri sinkhole site

As a Missourian I have visited the Bass pro shops all over Missouri.   They are unique in their own way.  As I was reading about fishing this spring (cause my husband loves to fish) I ran across this article about a new lodge being built in southern Missouri.  I'm always looking for new, exciting and fun places to go that require very little travel.

This area is close to Branson and the famous Top of the Rock, so I know how beautiful it will be.  I hope you enjoy the article and the information about what Bass Pro Shops are doing for the state of Missouri.
Let me know if you have been there and if your are planning to go.

Underwater scooters, WOW!!

So last December my family and I traveled to Hawaii to see family and to take in some water activities.  We looked a several different things to do and decided on kayaking to a small island.  This was great, but as I was looking for different water activities today I found Water Scooters. WOW!!  Now I can't wait to go back to Hawaii and experience this.  Check out this article and see how great this looks.

Watch the video to see what you will experience when you use water scooters.  The fact that it is for all ages makes it the best vacation activity.  The views are spectacular and you can do this in Cancun and the Bahamas.
Hawaii has so much to offer, but this looks like a chance in a life time to do.  Get out there and make some Hawaii memories.
Let me know what you think.

Boating & Paddling

As you all know I love to be around the water.  It doesn't matter if its boating, swimming, fishing or paddling.  I'm interested in different place  where water activities are ready to do.  This article that I found is about water activities in New York state.  I found it interesting because I have never been to New York and it has many, many lakes and looks likes a beautiful state to visit.

Just the simple activity as paddling can open your eyes the beauty of the great outdoors.  From flat water paddling to white water paddling the adventures are exactly what you need.  I hope you enjoy the article.
I think I'll choose an other state and see what water actives they have to offer.  Enjoy!
